Who We Are.
Our church is a vibrant congregation made up of
people from all different ethnicities, walks of life,
from young to old. We are devoted to following
God and living our lives in accordance with God’s
Word. We believe that Jesus Christ died on the
cross and rose again to reconcile us back to God
and forgive our sins. Therefore, we are committed
to loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and loving our neighbours as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-38). Whether you have been a follower of Jesus for decades or you are seeking spiritual truth, wanting to learn more about Jesus and the Christian faith, we are delighted to welcome and serve you.
Our History.
A New Chapter.
God's Work in Westlynn.
Westlynn Baptist Church traces its origins back to the 1950s when it was established as a new church plant of the East Kings Road Baptist Church. The latter was formerly situated close to East Kings Road & Lonsdale in North Vancouver. In 1963, the original sanctuary was constructed on the present site, marking a significant milestone in our journey. Through the ensuing decades, the congregation was shepherded by various dedicated pastors. Notably, in the 1980s, the church felt led to undertake a construction project that led to the creation of the current sanctuary alongside an expanded kitchen, purpose-built Sunday school classrooms, a prayer room and new office space. These enhancements were thoughtfully designed to cater to the needs of future growth.
In 2017, Westlynn Baptist Church began a search for a new lead pastor. The year 2018 was a pivotal moment in the life of the church as the congregation discerned a potential merger with a young church plant called ACTS 242 Church. They were looking for a permanent location to put down roots. After a 6-month period of discernment which included prayer, joint services, meals, ACTS 242 Church officially merged with Westlynn Baptist Church and Sam Chua was called to serve as the lead pastor.
Since then, God has grown Westlynn Baptist Church and opened doors for new ministry opportunities. We offer classes for people seeking to learn more about Jesus, and also discipleship groups for those wanting to grow deeper in their faith. We have dedicated ministries that serve the needs of Russian-speaking, Farsi-speaking individuals. Our weekly English classes are tailored to support immigrants and refugees as they seek to settle into their new surroundings.
Our church is also deeply engaged in serving our local community. Our biweekly food program that is staffed by volunteers supports numerous low-income individuals and seniors who are struggling to make ends meet.
For students and young people, we have a youth group and young adult group that meet regularly on Friday evenings that foster a nurturing environment to study the Bible and grow spiritually as well as to enjoy fun events and outings together. We also have a chess club for elementary and high school that meets several times a month as well as an annual summer Sports Camp for children that has been running for over 20 years.
